A workspace is the container for everything one team does in SAQ: its tickets, projects, clients, time entries, periods, billing runs, and settings. Every link into the app names the workspace by its address, for example https://saq.no/w/acme/. People log in with one identity and can belong to several workspaces; the workspace switcher moves between them. Workspaces are created by ArktIQ, not by self-service sign-up.
How it relates to other concepts
- A workspace belongs to an organization, which holds the plan and subscription.
- People inside it are workspace users (Owner, Admin, Member) or client users attached to a client.
- Its workflow (kinds, states, priorities, labels), consultant categories, and period settings apply to every project in it.
- Ticket ids carry the workspace's ticket prefix:
ACME-184.
Rules
- The address (slug) is 3–32 lowercase letters, digits, and hyphens, unique across SAQ, and fixed after creation.
- The name is up to 120 characters.
- General settings, changed by an Owner or Admin under Settings → General: name, ticket prefix (2–6 uppercase letters or digits; existing ids keep their old prefix and still resolve), time zone, default language (English or Norwegian Bokmål), default currency, and period length (month or week).
- The time zone and period length are locked once the first period has been closed.
- Workflow rules also live at workspace level: the inbound kind, the default priority, the customer-resolve state, and the reopen window.
- A workspace becomes read-only when its organization's subscription lapses or when deletion has been scheduled; a banner says so on every page.
- Deleting a workspace is an Owner action that needs a typed confirmation and a fresh export. The workspace stays read-only and restorable for 30 days, then everything is purged.
Example
Acme Consulting has one workspace, acme, with prefix ACME, time zone Europe/Oslo, currency NOK, and monthly periods. Its consultants are workspace users; its customers' people are client users under each client. A consultant who also does work for a sister company logs in with the same email and switches to that company's workspace.
