Settings → Workspace → General holds the handful of settings that apply to the whole workspace: its name and address, the prefix in ticket ids, the time zone and period length the time-tracking calendar uses, and the defaults new people and clients start with. Workspaces are created by ArktIQ; these are the settings you adjust afterwards.

Before you start

You need the Owner or Admin role. Members and client users cannot open workspace settings.

Fields

Field Meaning Rules
Workspace name Shown in the workspace switcher. 1–120 characters.
Address The slug in every link to the workspace, as in https://saq.no/w/acme. Read-only. Fixed after creation.
Ticket prefix The letters in front of every ticket number, as in ACME-184. 2–6 uppercase letters or digits.
Time zone Default for new users, reports, and period boundaries. Any IANA time zone from the list. Locked after the first period close.
Default language The language new users and clients start with. English or Norwegian (Bokmål). Everyone can choose their own.
Default currency The currency new clients start with. Three-letter ISO 4217 code, such as NOK.
Period length The length of timesheet periods: Month or Week. Locked after the first period close.

Select Save to apply. Every change is recorded in the audit log.

Rules

Ticket prefix

Changing the prefix affects new tickets only. Every existing ticket keeps the id it was created with, and old ids keep working: a link to ACME-184 still opens the ticket after the prefix changes, and so does the new prefix with the old number. Ticket numbers are never reused.

Time zone and period length

Both settings shape the time-tracking calendar: a period is a calendar month or a Monday-based week in the workspace time zone. Until the first period is closed you can change them freely; changing the period length re-sorts existing time entries into the new periods without changing any entry. Once the first period has been closed, both are locked, and saving a change is refused with "Time zone and period length are locked after the first close." See Close a period.

Period length is also shown under Settings → Billing → Period and run settings, together with the first period start and the reopen window.

Defaults are only defaults

The default language and currency are starting values. A person picks their own language and time zone under Account → Preferences; a client's language and currency are set on the client. Changing a default here does not change people or clients that already exist.

Common problems

"The prefix must be 2–6 uppercase letters or digits." Lowercase letters, spaces, and hyphens are not allowed.

"Unknown time zone." Pick a zone from the list; abbreviations such as CET are not accepted.

I need to change the address of the workspace. The address is fixed after creation and cannot be changed.

I need to change the time zone after a period close. This is not possible. Closed periods are frozen on the old boundaries, and the workspace keeps its calendar.
