A client is a customer of the team: the company you do work for and bill. In SAQ a client is the account that gathers everything about that customer in one place: the people who may log in (client users), the email addresses you know (contacts), who receives timesheets, the prices (rate card), what is paid, free, or drawn from a time bank, and the client timesheets produced so far.
How it relates to other concepts
- A project has at most one billing client, the default client its tickets are billed to. It can also list collaborating clients, whose users can be elevated on the project and whose tickets can be billed to them.
- A ticket carries its own billing client; "Internal work (no client)" means nobody is billed.
- A billing run covers one client and one closed period.
- Each client user belongs to exactly one client in the workspace.
Rules
- The name is unique in the workspace, 1–120 characters.
- Settings: language (English or Norwegian Bokmål, used for the client's documents and emails), default currency, timesheet layout (Combined: one document with a section per project, or Per project), and rounding in minutes (0, 6, 15, or 30). Each billable entry is rounded up to that increment at the billing run, never when it is logged.
- Clients are archived, never deleted.
- Only Owners and Admins create, edit, or archive clients and manage their users, contacts, billing recipients, rates, policies, and banks. None of this is available to API tokens.
- Workspace users see every client. A client user sees only their own client.
Example
Acme creates the client "Nordic Retail" with Norwegian as language, NOK, per-project timesheets, and 15-minute rounding. The project retail-shop bills Nordic Retail by default. A support ticket from a Nordic Retail employee is billed to Nordic Retail and shows up, in Norwegian, on their timesheet after the month's billing run.
