A rate card is the price list for one client: for each consultant category, an hourly rate valid from a date. A project can carry its own rates that override the client's for work on that project. Rates are set by Owners and Admins on the client's Rate card tab; nobody else sees them, and client users never see a rate in the app, only on the timesheet lines they are charged for.
How it relates to other concepts
- The rate applies to a time entry by the entry's category and work date. The category comes from the entry's snapshot, not from the person's current default.
- The billing run resolves the rate for every charged entry. A missing rate is a blocker: "No rate on the card for this category and date."
- Time that a billing policy makes free or draws from a bank is still valued at its rate as a notional amount in reports, so you can see what the free hours were worth.
Rules
- A rate is: scope (the whole client, or only one project), category, valid-from date, and hourly rate in the client's currency, excluding VAT, stored as an exact amount.
- Resolution for an entry: a project rate for its category, if any, else the client rate; in each case the rate with the latest valid-from date on or before the work date.
- A new effective date is a new rate; older rates stay as history and continue to price the dates they cover.
- A rate that a billing run has priced with cannot be deleted; add a new effective date instead. An unused rate can be removed, after which time from that date is priced with the previous rate or has no rate.
- Rates are per client and per currency; SAQ never sums money across currencies.
Example
Nordic Retail's card: Senior consultant NOK 1 500 from 2026-01-01, NOK 1 600 from 2026-09-01; Developer NOK 1 200. On retail-shop the Developer rate is overridden to NOK 1 100. An entry logged on 2026-09-15 by a Senior consultant is priced at 1 600.
